Read the rules before scoring
- Select your highest eligible achievement in each domain; achievements are not added within a domain.
- Count completed achievements at application submission. Fully accepted, in-press publications are an exception. Submitted manuscripts do not count.
- No points for applying only to IMT in 2027. Priority status, eligibility and interview performance are separate from this estimate.
- The same work can support different domains where official guidance permits; an abstract cannot score again if its conference presentation/poster is claimed.
01Postgraduate qualificationsNot reviewed0 / 4
Exclude intercalated degrees, specialty membership exams and teaching qualifications. Do not claim qualifications whose main component was clinical care. A PGCert/PGDip must be relevant to medicine; a qualifying masters or research doctorate can be outside medicine.
Qualification certificate (or awarding-body letter), duration and eligibility details.
02Presentations & postersNot reviewed0 / 8
First or second author, original medical work, with the required evidence of acceptance and content. Oral presentations must have been delivered. Teaching talks and pay-to-present arrangements do not qualify. National/international claims require the meeting abstract listing.
Meeting acceptance/certificate and abstract listing where required, plus slides or poster and your authorship.
03PublicationsNot reviewed0 / 6
Use PubMed-recognised authorship (Cochrane reviews are equivalent). Books must have an ISBN and an independent publisher. Letters do not score; abstracts are excluded from the “other PubMed publication” tiers. A single other PubMed publication scores 2, not 3.
PubMed citation/link or final acceptance; for books, ISBN, publisher, contents and contribution.
04Teaching experienceNot reviewed0 / 5
Formal feedback is required for every scoring tier. The higher tiers require sustained teaching over approximately 3 months or longer. Organising without regularly teaching does not meet the 5-point option.
Collated feedback or observed-teaching assessment; for higher tiers, programme outline and headed organiser letter confirming your role.
05Training in teachingNot reviewed0 / 3
Training must specifically concern teaching methods. Short-course credit requires at least 6 hours of synchronous teaching beyond your primary degree. A higher qualification must be university accredited, graduate-entry and at least 60 credits or equivalent.
Completion certificate or organiser letter, plus course outline, live hours or accreditation/credits.
06Quality improvementNot reviewed0 / 4
Use recognised QI methodology and only completed cycles you personally worked on. Recommending change without implementing it does not count as all stages. A traditional audit qualifies only if it meets the QI requirements.
QIPAT or headed supervisor confirmation covering aims, measures, methodology, implementation, evaluation and your role.
TURN CLARITY INTO PROGRESS
Your next moves.
Protect the evidence behind your achievements first. Then choose realistic work that develops you. A domain maximum is not a promised point gain.
Keep the official guidance close.
This independent self-assessment supports planning. It is not an official score, eligibility assessment or recruitment recommendation. Applicants choose and justify their own claims. Rules can change: check the linked official guidance before submitting an application. Your evidence checks are self-declared; no documents are verified here.
Ophthalmology discretionary evidence and assessor-awarded layout marks are excluded. Do not enter patient information or upload recruitment evidence to this tool.
